INVITATION

We are pleased to inform you that the 9th International Conference on Telecommunications in Modern Satellite, Cable and Broadcasting Services TELSIKS 2009 will be held from 7 to 9 October 2009, at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Niš, Serbia.

Niš is an administrative, economic and cultural centre of the South-East Serbia, some 240 km away from Belgrade. This city stands on the site of the Roman settlement of Naissus, the birthplace of Emperor Constantine the Great, in the valley of the river Nišava. There is a number of the ancient monuments in the city that testify about its stormy history. Niš is known as the greatest gate between East and West, because it is on the crossroad of the three important directions of the international highway, railway and air traffic.

Niš is a well-known university centre in Serbia, and Europe as well. Faculty of Electronic Engineering, one of the organisers of the conference TELSIKS and one of the most perspective university institutions in the country, gives great contribution to the development of the University of Niš.

HISTORY

Series of biennial conferences on telecommunications in modern satellite, cable and broadcasting services have been initiated by Professor Bratislav Milovanović since 1993. The Conference TELSIKS is a highly competent scientific and professional meeting aimed at the efficient exchange of results in the area of telecommunications, through presentation of current scientific results, development trends, etc. The first two well organised conferences, with a great number of participants from abroad and Serbia and Montenegro, allowed organisers to make few steps in improving the conference quality. The third conference, held in 1997 had an international character and was technically co-sponsored by IEEE MTT society, with an international Program Committee. The fourth conference, TELSIKS 1999, was organised during bombing of our country. This conference as well as the fifth conference, TELSIKS 2001, was technically co-sponsored by five IEEE societies: MTT, AP, Communications, Broadcast Technology and Region 8. Also, the conference proceedings had been distributed by IEEE Book Broker program. TELSIKS 2003 and 2005 conferences were technically co-sponsored by four IEEE societies: MTT, AP, Communications, and Region 8. The last Conference, held in 2007, was technically co-sponsored by the same IEEE societies and it was the most successful one in both organizational and technical sense.
